Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu Box Office Collection: Chiranjeevi’s Film off to a Flying Start
Chiranjeevi's latest film, "Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu," has taken the box office by storm, earning ₹28.50 crore net in India on its first day. Including preview earnings, the film's total first-day collection in India rises to ₹37.10 crore. Globally, the movie has grossed ₹84 crore on its opening day.
Released on January 12, 2026, coinciding with the Sankranti festival, the film has received positive reviews from both critics and audiences. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, known for his mass entertainers, "Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu" stars Chiranjeevi in the lead role as Shankara Vara Prasad, with Venkatesh appearing in an extended cameo as Venky Gowda and Nayanthara playing Sasirekha. The film also features Catherine Tresa, Zarina Wahab, and Harsh Vardhan in key roles.
The movie had already generated significant buzz with pre-sales grossing over ₹35 crore worldwide. The film's success is attributed to positive word-of-mouth, Chiranjeevi's star power, and the festive season. The film is described as a mix of action, comedy, drama, and emotions, showcasing Chiranjeevi's comic timing, screen presence, and mass appeal.
"Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu" has also performed strongly in overseas markets, particularly in North America, where it crossed $1.2 million. Specifically, the movie grossed USD 1.50 million at the North American box office on its opening day, with USD 1.35 million from the US and USD 125,000 from Canada. The film has surpassed the lifetime North America collections of "Akhanda 2: Thaandavam".
The film recorded high occupancy rates in Telugu-speaking regions, with evening and night shows peaking at 71.20% and 78.87% respectively. Chennai recorded 38.25% occupancy across 119 shows, while Bengaluru had 40% occupancy across 460 shows.
This marks Chiranjeevi's first theatrical release in two years, following his last film, "Bhola Shankar," which was released in 2023 and did not perform well at the box office. With the strong opening and positive audience response, "Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu" is expected to continue its successful run during the Sankranti holiday week.
