Pooja Hegde & Allu Arjun Reunite to Celebrate 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' Anniversary: Declaring it 'AVPL Day'

Marking six years since its release, Pooja Hegde celebrated the anniversary of the blockbuster hit "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo". The Telugu action-comedy, which also stars Allu Arjun, was released on January 12, 2020, and quickly became a fan favorite.

To commemorate the occasion, Hegde shared a nostalgic throwback on her Instagram Stories. The post featured a video of herself and Allu Arjun filming the popular song "Butta Bomma". She reminisced about the "Butta Bomma fever" that the song generated and wished her fans a "Happy AVPL Day everyone".

"Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo," directed by Trivikram Srinivas, was a major commercial success. Upon release, it became the fourth-highest-grossing Telugu film of all time. The film also claimed the title of the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2020 and the second-highest-grossing Indian film of that year. Worldwide, the movie made an approximate collection of ₹262–280 crore.

The film features an ensemble cast including Jayaram, Tabu, Sushanth, Nivetha Pethuraj, Murali Sharma, Sachin Khedekar, Samuthirakani, Navdeep, Sunil, Harsha Vardhan, and Govind Padmasoorya. The film tells the story of Bantu, a young man who discovers he was switched at birth and is actually the son of a millionaire.

The chemistry between Hegde and Allu Arjun was widely praised and contributed to the film's success. The movie's soundtrack, composed by S. Thaman, was also a major hit, with "Butta Bomma" becoming a viral sensation. Thaman even won the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for his work in the film.

"Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo" was not only a hit in India but also resonated with audiences worldwide. The film was later remade in Hindi as "Shehzada," starring Kartik Aaryan.

Pooja Hegde has several upcoming projects, including the romantic comedy "Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai" opposite Varun Dhawan, directed by David Dhawan, which is slated for release on June 5. She is also set to appear in #DQ41 opposite Dulquer Salmaan and "Kanchana 4" alongside Raghava Lawrence.
