"Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web" is set to premiere on Netflix on January 14, 2026. This Hindi-language crime thriller series is created by Neeraj Pandey and produced by Friday Storytellers.
The series delves into the clandestine operations within the Indian Customs Service, specifically at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. It revolves around Superintendent Arjun Meena, a sharp and dedicated customs officer, and his team as they combat a notorious smuggling syndicate led by Bada Chaudhary. The narrative explores the high-stakes world of contraband trafficking, power plays, and moral dilemmas.
Emraan Hashmi leads the cast as Superintendent Arjun Meena. The series also features Sharad Kelkar as Bada Chaudhary, the smuggling kingpin. The customs task force includes Amruta Khanvilkar as Mitali Kamath, Nandish Singh Sandhu as Ravinder Gujjar, and Anurag Sinha as Prakash Kumar. Zoya Afroz and Anuja Sathe also appear in the series.
The series consists of seven episodes. Filming took place across various international locations, including Milan, Bangkok, Al-Dera'a, Addis Ababa, and Bahrain, in addition to Mumbai. Cyril Raffaelli served as one of the stunt coordinators for the show.
According to Neeraj Pandey, "Taskaree" aims to showcase the unseen world of customs with authenticity and depth. Emraan Hashmi described his character as calm, observant, and strategic, highlighting the series' grounded and intelligent take on heroism.
