In Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, a dispute over reckless motorcycle riding escalated into a deadly double homicide on Friday night. Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the brutal bludgeoning of two men, one of whom was a private bank employee.

The deceased have been identified as Parthiban, 32, who worked at a private bank in Sevvapet, and Kesavan. Sukumar, a friend of the deceased, sustained critical injuries during the attack.

According to reports, Parthiban, Sukumar, and Kesavan were returning home from a Pongal holiday trip to Andhra Pradesh around 10:30 p.m. when the incident occurred. As they neared their village in Manavalanagar, they encountered a group of four men allegedly creating a disturbance on the roadside. An argument ensued after Parthiban and his friends questioned the group about their reckless driving.

The altercation quickly turned violent. The group of four men, identified as Neelakandan, 30, Jyotish, 34, Vinothkumar, 36, and Jawahar, 23, attacked Parthiban and his friends with blunt objects. Parthiban died at the scene, while Kesavan and Sukumar were rushed to the Government Tiruvallur Hospital. Kesavan succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Sukumar is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.

Following the incident, relatives of the deceased staged a protest on the Tirupati-Chennai highway on Saturday morning, demanding immediate arrest of the accused. The protest disrupted traffic until police intervention and assurances of swift action led to the dispersal of the crowd.

Manavalanagar police have registered a case and apprehended all four accused. The investigation is ongoing. This incident underscores the dangers of road rage and the potential for minor disagreements to escalate into deadly violence. Authorities are urging citizens to exercise caution and restraint while on the road and to report any instances of reckless behavior to the police.
