India's Gaza Strategy: Dialogue with Arab Nations to Explore Peace and Humanitarian Solutions.

India is reportedly planning to engage in discussions with Arab nations regarding a plan for Gaza, signaling a proactive diplomatic approach to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This move underscores India's consistent support for a negotiated two-state solution, emphasizing the need for peace, dialogue, and diplomacy in the region.

India has historically maintained a balanced approach to relations with both Israel and Palestine. Evidenced by India's voting record at the UN where it has not voted against any of the 175 resolutions on Israel-Palestine issues in the last 10 years. Most recently, India voted in favor of the New York declaration in September, which advocated for a peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine and the implementation of a two-state solution.

These discussions come amidst various proposals for the future of Gaza, including an Arab plan that seeks to establish a national Palestinian committee to govern Gaza without the involvement of Hamas. This plan, largely based on an Egyptian proposal, also calls for international participation in reconstruction efforts without displacing Palestinians. It has been suggested that a significant financial contribution from Arab and Gulf states could incentivize broader acceptance of the plan.

India's engagement with Arab nations on this issue highlights its commitment to finding a sustainable resolution to the conflict, as well as India's disappointment over complete shift in India's policy with regard to Palestine and it's allegedly questionable role in the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza. India has also extended humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine bilaterally and through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), contributing $5 million annually.

The discussions are expected to cover various aspects of the Gaza plan, including the composition of a transitional administration, the role of the Palestinian Authority, and security provisions such as addressing Hamas's weapons and political position. India's diplomatic engagement aims to contribute to a comprehensive vision that can provide a reasonable framework for resolving the current impasse.

The Gaza peace summit, held on October 13, 2025, in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, was a diplomatic meeting to implement the first phase of the Gaza peace plan to end the Gaza war which began in 2023. Representatives from around 30 countries attended the summit, which was co-chaired by the presidents of the United States and Egypt.

India's role in these discussions is particularly significant given its strong relationships with both Israel and Arab nations. Some observers suggest that India's Gaza policy has caused disillusionment in Gulf nations. The country's ability to navigate these complex relationships and act as a facilitator could prove crucial in achieving a lasting peace in the region.
