Air India and IndiGo Aircraft Wing Tip Collision: Close Call Incident at Mumbai Airport.

A ground collision occurred at Mumbai Airport on Tuesday evening involving an Air India Airbus A320 and an IndiGo A320. The wingtips of the two aircraft made contact while on the taxiway.

The Air India flight, AI2732, was preparing to depart for Coimbatore. The IndiGo flight, 6E 791, had arrived from Hyderabad. According to officials, the Air India aircraft was waiting on the taxiway before takeoff, while the IndiGo aircraft was taxiing after landing. The incident took place on an airport with parallel runways.

Following the incident, both aircraft were grounded for inspections and moved to a bay. An Air India spokesperson stated that flight AI2732 was delayed after the contact with the other aircraft, which resulted in damage to its wingtip. An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed that the wingtip of their aircraft, operating flight 6E791, came into contact with another airline's aircraft while taxiing after landing.

No passengers were injured during the incident. Operations at the airport are continuing as normal.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an investigation into the incident. A team from the DGCA is at the site.
