Tragedy struck Nagla Jait village in Aliganj, Uttar Pradesh, as the roof of an old house collapsed during heavy rain early Sunday morning, resulting in one death and injuries to seven other family members. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 am at the residence of Sher Singh, located within the Kotwali police station area.
Anuj, the 25-year-old son of Sher Singh, was critically injured in the collapse and later pronounced dead by doctors. Anuj's son, Anirudh, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Farrukhabad. The other injured family members, including Anuj's elder brother Vipnesh (27), his wife Pappi (26), Anuj's wife Sheelu (23), Vipnesh's daughter Palak (6), and Anuj's son Ankur, are being treated at a private hospital in Aliganj.
Circle Officer Nitesh Garg confirmed the details of the incident, noting that the house was an old structure. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Aliganj, Jagmohan Gupta, stated that the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Local villagers immediately launched rescue efforts, working to extract the family members from under the debris. Police and administrative officials arrived at the scene to provide assistance and initiate relief measures. Authorities are assessing the situation to determine appropriate aid and compensation for the affected family. Preliminary assessments indicate that the incident will be covered under the Disaster Relief Fund, and procedures are underway to provide additional assistance through the Chief Minister Farmers Accident Insurance Scheme.
