Vijay Deverakonda's spy action drama, Kingdom, is heading to Netflix on August 27, 2025, after a successful theatrical run that began on July 31, 2025. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. The Hindi version will be released under the title Saamrajya due to title restrictions.
Netflix India announced the digital premiere with a poster and the caption, "In the kingdom of gold, blood and fire… a new king rises from the ashes". Sithara Entertainments, the production house behind the film, also confirmed the multilingual release.
Kingdom follows Suri (Vijay Deverakonda), a constable who becomes a spy and undertakes a dangerous mission in Sri Lanka to find his long-lost brother, Siva (Satyadev). Suri's search leads him into conflict with Murugan (Venkitesh), the son of a cartel leader named Odiyappan (Baburaj), which creates complications. Along his journey, he is aided by Dr. Madhu (Bhagyashri Borse), who develops feelings for him. The film is set in the 1990s, where Telugu refugees from Srikakulam are struggling on an island in Sri Lanka and are forced to assist a mafia in smuggling operations.
The OTT release coincides with Ganesh Chaturthi. The announcement of the OTT release also occurred on the 8th anniversary of Vijay Deverakonda's Arjun Reddy and the 3rd anniversary of his Bollywood debut, Liger.
Kingdom had a worldwide collection of ₹82.02 crore during its theatrical run, with ₹60.79 crore from India and ₹21.25 crore from overseas screenings.
Producer Naga Vamsi hinted that the Netflix version of Kingdom might include additional scenes, such as a song and an action sequence, that were cut from the theatrical release. The film's initial release date was postponed several times before finally hitting theaters on July 31.
Some critics found the film to be an emotionally driven story with moral complexity, while others felt that it relied too heavily on familiar tropes and lacked uniqueness.
