Following the Ganpati Visarjan, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar participated in a beach clean-up drive at Juhu Beach in Mumbai on Sunday, September 7, 2025. The initiative, led by Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, aimed to promote public responsibility in maintaining cleanliness after the festival celebrations.

Videos circulating on social media showed Akshay Kumar collecting waste and remnants from the visarjan, placing them into bags along with other volunteers. Amruta Fadnavis and BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani also participated in the drive. The clean-up drive was organized by the Divyaj Foundation, a non-governmental organization founded by Amruta Fadnavis, in association with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Akshay Kumar emphasized the importance of public responsibility in maintaining cleanliness. According to IANS, he stated that cleanliness is not just the government's or the BMC's responsibility but also the public's. Amruta Fadnavis highlighted the impact of Prime Minister Modi's Swachhta Abhiyan, noting the increased public awareness and participation in cleanliness drives. She urged the youth to recognize their responsibility towards the Earth's nourishment and growth, emphasizing that "no alien will come down to do it for us". Devendra Fadnavis' daughter, Divija Fadnavis, also participated and advocated for eco-friendly Ganesha idols.

The clean-up initiative occurred at a crucial time, as Mumbai beaches often face heavy pollution after Ganpati visarjan celebrations. Amruta Fadnavis expressed satisfaction with the participation of people from all walks of life and thanked the various organizations, including BMC, for their support. She stressed that keeping beaches clean is a civic responsibility, just like celebrating festivals.
