The ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, stemming from their work on the film "It Ends With Us," has taken an unexpected turn with the potential involvement of Taylor Swift. Lively initiated legal proceedings against Baldoni in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment and a retaliatory smear campaign following her complaints about his behavior on set. Baldoni denied the allegations.

Baldoni later filed a $400 million countersuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, accusing them of defamation and extortion, also suing the New York Times for libel. However, a judge dismissed Baldoni's claims in June 2025. Lively's suit alleges that Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and others engaged in "a carefully crafted, coordinated, and resourced retaliatory scheme to silence her, and others, from speaking out". She accuses Baldoni and the studio of embarking on a "multi-tiered plan" to damage her reputation after a meeting in which she and Reynolds addressed "repeated sexual harassment and other disturbing behavior" by Baldoni and a producer, Jamey Heath. The alleged mistreatment on set included comments from Baldoni on the bodies of Lively and other women on the set. The suit also alleges Baldoni and Heath "discussed their personal sexual experiences and previous porn addiction, and tried to pressure Ms. Lively to reveal details about her intimate life".

Now, Taylor Swift's name has surfaced in connection with the case. Baldoni's legal team has expressed interest in deposing Swift, claiming she had agreed to it, but her legal representatives have stated that she "did not agree" to a deposition and maintains that she has "no material role" in the action. However, Swift's attorney, J. Douglas Baldridge, indicated that if she is "forced into a deposition," her schedule would allow time during the week of October 20, provided the parties can resolve their disputes.

Swift's potential involvement stems from Baldoni's earlier claim that Swift and Reynolds pressured him to accept one of Lively's rewrites for "It Ends With Us" after he was summoned to their New York City apartment.

The defense team representing Lively has opposed extending the deadline for depositions, which is set to expire at the end of September 2025, calling the attempt to depose Swift a "media-driven tactic". Attorney Matthew Bruno, representing Lively, argued that a late-October deposition of Swift and subsequent delays could jeopardize the trial date set for March 2026.

The judge overseeing the case has the final say on whether Swift will be brought in for a deposition and whether either side will receive additional time for depositions. The situation remains fluid, with both sides presenting differing accounts and strategies as the legal battle unfolds.
