Director Priyadarshan has confirmed that Mohanlal will be making a cameo appearance in his upcoming Hindi film, Haiwaan, starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in lead roles. Haiwaan is an adaptation of Priyadarshan's own 2016 Malayalam thriller, Oppam, which also starred Mohanlal. The film is slated for release in 2026 and is produced by Thespian Films and KVN Productions.

Priyadarshan clarified that the story is his priority when making a film, not specific actors. He stated that while Mohanlal is indeed part of Haiwaan, he didn't want to reveal details about the character. He emphasized that the script always comes first, followed by casting the right actors.

The director also addressed the possibility of making a full-fledged movie featuring both Akshay Kumar and Mohanlal. He said that he can't simply decide to make a film with specific actors; the script has to come first, and then the appropriate cast is chosen.

The confirmed cameo has generated excitement among fans, especially given the long-standing relationship between Priyadarshan and Mohanlal. They have collaborated on numerous Malayalam blockbusters, many of which are considered classics. Priyadarshan has also directed several Bollywood hits, including Hera Pheri and Hungama.

Haiwaan marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan on screen after several years. The film also features Samuthirakani, Saiyami Kher, Shreya Pilgaonkar, Asrani, and Einar Haraldsson in pivotal roles. Akshay Kumar was recently seen in Jolly LLB 3, while Saif Ali Khan's last film was Jewel Thief.
