Cathie Wood, CEO of ARK Invest, has recently drawn comparisons between the decentralized crypto derivatives exchange Hyperliquid and the early days of Solana. In a recent interview on the Master Investor podcast, Wood noted Hyperliquid's potential, likening it to Solana's early-stage promise.

Wood highlighted that ARK Invest has been generally increasing its exposure to digital assets, with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana leading the way. While ARK Invest holds Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana in its public funds, Wood clarified that their exposure to Solana is partly through Breera Sports, which has connections to the Solana treasury and Middle Eastern investors. She also mentioned advisory ties to the project through economist Art Laffer.

Hyperliquid, described as the "new kid on the block," has garnered considerable attention within the trading community. Wood acknowledged Hyperliquid as a protocol to watch, though she didn't confirm any direct position in it.

Since its launch in November 2024, Hyperliquid's native token, HYPE, has experienced a rally of over 1,400%, reaching an all-time high of $59.39 on September 18.

Despite acknowledging the growing number of tokens in the market, Wood emphasized that Bitcoin remains central to ARK's long-term crypto investment strategy. She views Bitcoin as the true cryptocurrency, citing its fixed supply and resilience. While Ethereum powers the DeFi ecosystem, Wood underscored Bitcoin's role as a monetary system.

Wood stated that the fund also holds some derivatives such as Uniswap and market protocols related to Solana, but said the core focus remains narrow by design.
