Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has joined a chorus of voices celebrating India's thrilling victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final. The actor took to social media to congratulate the Men in Blue on their spectacular win.
India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in a nail-biting contest to secure their second T20 Asia Cup title and ninth overall. The match, held at the Dubai International Stadium, saw India chase down a target of 147 with two balls to spare.
Pakistan's innings began strongly, reaching 113/1 in the 13th over. However, a dramatic collapse triggered by India's spinners saw them lose their last nine wickets for just 33 runs, finishing with a total of 146 in 19.1 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers, taking 4 wickets for 30 runs. He was well supported by Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakaravarthy, who each took two wickets.
In response, India faced early setbacks, losing three wickets for just 20 runs. Tilak Varma, however, played a brilliant unbeaten innings of 69 off 53 balls to anchor the chase. Shivam Dube also contributed a crucial 33 off 22 balls, sharing a 60-run partnership with Varma.
The victory sparked celebrations across India, with fans and celebrities alike taking to social media to express their joy and pride. Mohanlal's congratulatory message is just one example of the outpouring of support for the Indian team.
However, the match was not without controversy. Following India's victory, the team refused to accept the trophy or their individual medals at the presentation ceremony because Asia Cricket Council (ACC) chief Mohsin Naqvi insisted that he would give away the trophy. This led to a delay in the ceremony and a mixed reaction from fans.
