The veteran actor's celebratory tweet referenced a recent incident involving former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar, who had mistakenly referred to Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma as "Abhishek Bachchan" during a pre-match analysis. Akhtar's slip of the tongue quickly went viral, becoming a subject of amusement on social media.
Bachchan, seizing the opportunity, congratulated "Abhishek Bachchan" on the win, humorously implying that his son had contributed to the victory without even needing to bat, bowl, or field. His tweet, written in Hindi, conveyed a sense of triumph and playful mockery towards the Pakistani team. The tweet translates to: "We won! Well played, 'Abhishek Bachchan'. Their tongue slipped there, and here, without batting, bowling, and fielding, you defeated the enemy!! They are speechless now!! Jai Hind! Jai Bharat! Jai Maa Durga!!!".
Abhishek Bachchan himself had earlier responded to Akhtar's gaffe with a witty reply, stating that he doubted Pakistan would even manage to get him out, considering his lack of cricketing skills. India's win in the Asia Cup final was hard-fought, with Tilak Varma playing a crucial innings of 69 not out to guide the team to victory. Chasing a target of 147, India overcame a shaky start to secure the win with two balls to spare. Varma's performance under pressure was widely praised, as was Shivam Dube's quickfire 33 off 22 balls. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for India, taking 4 wickets for 30 runs.
