A mishap occurred during the filming of the Tamil film Mandaadi in Ramanathapuram, where a boat capsized, resulting in the loss of equipment worth approximately ₹1 crore. The incident took place while the cast and crew were shooting a crucial scene at sea.

Fortunately, all crew members, including actor Soori, who plays the lead role, were safely rescued. Local fishermen promptly rescued two cinematographers who were thrown into the water, averting potential tragedy. While there were no serious injuries, the accident led to the loss of valuable camera equipment, including a RED digital camera, which sank into the sea. Initial reports suggest the boat overturned unexpectedly. Some reports indicate the boat capsized due to strong waves.

The marine police have registered a case and are currently investigating the accident to determine if proper safety measures were in place during the shoot. The film's shooting has been temporarily halted to allow for the investigation.

Mandaadi, directed by Mathimaaran Pugazhendhi, is a sports drama centered around a sailing boat race unique to the Tamil Nadu coastline. The film explores the lives and struggles of fishermen. The film has a unique bilingual approach. In the Tamil version, Soori plays the lead and Suhas is the villain. In the Telugu version, Suhas takes the lead, and Soori plays the antagonist.

The film boasts an impressive cast, including Mahima Nambiar, Sathyaraj, Sachana Namidass, Ravindra Vijay, and Achyuth Kumar. G.V. Prakash is composing the music, S.R.
