Bigg Boss Kannada Faces Shutdown: Pollution Control Board Orders Closure Due to Environmental Violations.

The popular reality show Bigg Boss Kannada is facing an unexpected hurdle as the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has ordered an immediate shutdown of its studio premises in Bidadi, near Bengaluru. The order, issued on October 6, 2025, to Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited (Jolly Wood Studios & Adventures), cites serious violations of environmental regulations at the production site.

The KSPCB's decision follows a site inspection that revealed several breaches of state and national pollution norms. Among the key violations, the board highlighted the operation of two large diesel generator sets and the discharge of wastewater without any treatment. These practices pose a significant threat to the local ecosystem. The studio was also found operating without the necessary consents for establishment and operation.

The KSPCB has directed that all activities at the Bigg Boss Kannada set be stopped immediately until the site achieves full compliance with environmental regulations. As part of the enforcement, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has been instructed to cut off the power supply to the site, and the Ramanagara Deputy Commissioner will be seizing the premises.

Bigg Boss Kannada, currently in its twelfth season and hosted by Kichcha Sudeep, is a widely followed show across Karnataka. The shutdown order has put a halt to the filming, creating uncertainty about the season's continuation. The KSPCB's firm action underscores the importance of environmental compliance, even for popular entertainment productions.

The closure notice has been welcomed by environmental activists, who staged protests outside the studio demanding adherence to environmental regulations. Their demonstrations emphasize the need for industries to be environmentally responsible and to operate within the legal framework established to protect the environment.

The Bigg Boss Kannada team now faces the task of addressing the environmental concerns raised by the KSPCB and implementing the necessary measures to comply with the regulations. This may involve investing in proper waste management and sewage treatment systems, as well as finding more sustainable power sources. The show's future hinges on their ability to rectify the violations and obtain the necessary clearances to resume operations.
