Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir: An encounter between terrorists and a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) erupted in a remote area of the Rajouri district on Tuesday evening. The gunfight began in the Beeranthub area of Kandi, under the jurisdiction of the Kandi Police Station.

According to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti, the encounter began when the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the local police initiated a search operation following intelligence inputs regarding the movement of suspected individuals. The joint forces promptly cordoned off the area to prevent the terrorists from escaping.

Reports indicate that the initial exchange of fire occurred around 7:20 PM in the Dheri Khatuni forest. At the time of the initial reports, there were no reported casualties. Officials believe that two to three terrorists are trapped in the area.

In response to the situation, additional security forces have been deployed to reinforce the cordon and intensify the search operation. Authorities are determined to eliminate the threat while minimizing potential casualties.

Simultaneously, security forces launched a separate cordon and search operation in the Dharni top area of Basantgarh in the Udhampur district after locals reported the movement of three suspected terrorists.

Security forces are maintaining high vigilance and conducting proactive operations to thwart any attempts by militants to disrupt peace and stability.
