In a recent interview, actor Vivek Oberoi reflected on past heartbreaks, stating that they now "feel like a bad dream" and something he can laugh about. Oberoi, who is now married to Priyanka Alva, with whom he has two children, has been candid about his experiences with love and relationships, noting how his perspective has evolved over time.
Oberoi acknowledged that he became bitter after facing heartbreaks earlier in life. He admitted to retreating into a shell, even vowing to avoid relationships altogether. "For a while, I went into a shell, I didn't want to be in a relationship," Oberoi stated, adding, "Nahi chahiye relationship, I went into that zone, but when you find the right person, all that things seem like a bad dream". He emphasized that overcoming heartbreak requires positivity.
The actor shared his evolving understanding of love, explaining that while falling in love is easy, staying in love presents a different challenge. He appreciates his relationship with his wife, Priyanka Alva Oberoi, and believes they are now growing in love together. "When you are young easy to fall in love but as you grow older, you make mistakes in relationships, you learn from these mistakes and you don't go into toxic patterns," he said.
Oberoi married Priyanka Alva on October 29, 2010. The couple has two children: a son, Vivaan Veer Oberoi, and a daughter, Ameyaa Nirvana Oberoi.
In an earlier interview, Oberoi revealed that the tragic loss of his childhood sweetheart to cancer significantly impacted his willingness to commit to serious relationships during his college years. He mentioned being focused on his studies and business ventures, including investing in the stock market, which left him with limited time for relationships. Despite this, Oberoi affirmed that when he has loved, he has done so wholeheartedly and has always been honest and transparent in his relationships.
Oberoi also spoke about a past "toxic" relationship that made him apprehensive about serious commitments. He advised others to protect themselves from negativity and avoid investing too much in a relationship until they are sure of the other person's worth.
Reflecting on his journey, Oberoi shared that his emotional reaction to past heartbreak lasted for several years, during which he struggled with a negative mindset. He credits meeting Priyanka with helping him heal and rediscover his true self. "We often focus on the emotional reaction rather than the process of healing. My emotional reaction lasted for 4-5 years. It was difficult until I found Priyanka," he explained.
In addition to his reflections on love and relationships, Oberoi has also been open about his career in Bollywood. He acknowledged facing professional challenges and feeling sidelined by the industry at times, particularly after a controversy in the early 2000s. Despite these obstacles, Oberoi has continued to work in films and has also found success in business ventures. He is currently anticipating the release of Mastiii 4, the latest installment in the comedy franchise.
