On April 28, 2025, a 23-year-old man was allegedly abused and assaulted on a moving Bhopal-Indore passenger train in Madhya Pradesh for watching a reel related to the recent Pahalgam terror attack. The Government Railway Police (GRP) has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against two unidentified individuals in connection with the incident.
According to the victim's complaint, the assault occurred on April 27 while he was traveling in the general coach of the train. He stated that he was watching a reel related to the Pahalgam terror attack on his mobile phone when two men began arguing with him. The men reportedly took offense, claiming he was watching the reel while looking at them.
The victim, who concealed his identity with a cap and mask when reporting the incident to the GRP, alleged that the accused made objectionable remarks about India and the Constitution during the dispute. He further claimed that they attempted to throw him off the moving train.
GRP Station House Officer Rashmi Patidar confirmed that a case has been registered against the two unidentified individuals under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including those pertaining to intentionally causing hurt by dangerous means, abuse, and criminal intimidation. The complainant has undergone a medical examination, and authorities are reviewing video and CCTV footage to identify the accused.
The Pahalgam terror attack, which occurred on April 22 in the Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam, South Kashmir, resulted in the deaths of at least 26 people, primarily tourists. The incident has heightened security concerns across the nation, prompting increased vigilance and digital surveillance by authorities to prevent the spread of inflammatory content online.
