A 25-year-old law student, Vishal Bhardwaj, tragically died after falling from a hostel terrace at Jammu University on Tuesday night. University officials reported the incident on Wednesday, stating that Bhardwaj was discovered unconscious by fellow students. He was immediately rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.

Vishal Bhardwaj, also known as Bunny, was a fifth-semester student in the Department of Law and a resident of Katra in the Reasi district. He had appeared for his final examination earlier on the same day. His lifeless body was found on the rear side of the Jambu Lochan Hostel, within the Jammu University complex.

Police have initiated inquest proceedings to determine the exact circumstances leading to his fall. The investigation aims to ascertain whether it was an accidental slip or if other factors were involved. Following the postmortem at GMC Hospital on Wednesday, Bhardwaj's body was handed over to his family for final rites.

In a separate incident, the body of an unidentified woman, approximately 35 years old, was found under suspicious circumstances near an irrigation canal in the Bishnah area of Jammu. The body had a cut mark on the throat and has been moved to the sub-district hospital in Bishnah for identification and postmortem. Police are also investigating this incident to determine the cause of death.
