A disturbing incident in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, has come to light where a domestic help was caught on camera allegedly urinating in a glass and then sprinkling it on the utensils she was cleaning. The accused, identified as Samantra, had been working at the home of a local jeweler, Satyam Mittal, in the Shah Jahir locality for nearly ten years.

According to police reports, Mittal grew suspicious of Samantra's behavior after noticing changes in her routine. She had recently started preventing family members from entering the kitchen while she was working, insisting that they remain in their rooms. This behavior raised red flags, leading the family to install a hidden camera on August 19 to monitor her actions.

The following day, the hidden camera captured Samantra allegedly urinating in a glass and then sprinkling the contents on the washed utensils. The Mittal family was shocked by the footage and immediately informed the police when Samantra returned to work on August 21.

Station House Officer of Nagina Police Station, Sanjay Kumar, confirmed that Samantra was taken into custody after the video went viral. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. Samantra has been booked under breach of peace provisions and was produced in court, where she secured bail. During interrogation, Samantra admitted to the act but refused to reveal her motive. While her employer dismissed her from work and declined to file a formal complaint, the police proceeded with legal action on their own.

Neighbors expressed disbelief at the incident. They stated that they have known Samantra for years and that she had worked in several homes in the area without any prior complaints. However, recently, neighbors had mentioned a foul smell in the utensils.

This is not the first incident of its kind in Uttar Pradesh. Last year, police in Ghaziabad arrested a domestic helper for allegedly mixing urine into flour dough used for making chapatis.

The incident has sparked outrage in the locality, with many residents calling the act "disgusting" and "unforgivable". The case has also raised concerns about the safety and hygiene of food preparation in homes and the level of trust one can place in domestic help.

The incident comes at a time when the Yogi Adityanath government is preparing a stringent law against the contamination of food and beverages. Under the proposed Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Contamination in Food Ordinance, mixing saliva, urine, or other unwanted substances in food could attract up to 10 years' imprisonment. The ordinance is expected to be placed before the state cabinet for approval soon.
