Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ABP Network's India@2047 Summit in New Delhi, emphasizing the nation's determination to become a developed country by 2047. He highlighted India's strengths, resources, and unwavering spirit, echoing Swami Vivekananda's call to action. Modi asserted that India is showcasing how tradition and technology can thrive together, moving from a GDP-centric approach to Gross Empowerment of People (GEP).
During his address, Modi underscored the importance of prioritizing national interest and believing in the country's capabilities for achieving objectives. He criticized past governments for prioritizing political convenience over national interest, driven by concerns about vote banks and external reactions. Modi contrasted this with his government's approach, where decisions are guided by the principle of "Nation First". He pointed to reforms like the Triple Talaq law and amendments to the Waqf law, which were long overdue but avoided due to vote bank politics, and were finally implemented under his leadership.
Modi also touched upon the Indus Waters Treaty, stating that India will now utilize its rightful water resources for its own benefit. He mentioned the interlinking of rivers and asserted that water, which previously flowed outside the country, will now be used for India's progress. This declaration comes amid rising tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, which led to the suspension of the treaty.
Furthermore, Modi emphasized India's progress towards self-reliance, particularly in the defense sector. He noted that India is transforming from a mere market for foreign weapons to a rising global leader in defense manufacturing, with growing defense exports to over 100 countries. He also highlighted the significance of homegrown assets like INS Vikrant, INS Surat, and INS Nilgiri. The Prime Minister stated that self-reliance has always been a fundamental part of India's economic DNA.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the India-UK Free Trade Agreement, describing it as a historic pact that will usher in a new chapter of development for both nations. He said that the agreement would boost economic activity and create new opportunities for Indian businesses and MSMEs.
Modi expressed confidence in India's capabilities, resources, and willpower to achieve the goal of becoming a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. He emphasized that India is not only carrying out reforms but also actively engaging with the world, making itself a vibrant hub of trade and commerce. He also acknowledged the inspiring experiences shared by Drone Didis and Lakhpati Didis at the summit, describing their stories as a source of motivation.
