Indian Navy Strikes Targets in Pakistan within Arabian Sea: Reports Indicate Escalation Following Tensions.

Following escalating tensions and unprovoked attacks from Pakistan, the Indian Navy has launched retaliatory operations in the Arabian Sea, targeting multiple locations within Pakistan. These actions come after Pakistan's attempts to strike military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur with missiles and drones were successfully neutralized by Indian defense systems.

Sources indicate that the naval operations commenced in the early hours of Friday, May 9, 2025, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. The Indian Navy deployed its most powerful warship INS Vikrant in the Arabian Sea. The Navy launched a powerful offensive from the Arabian Sea, targeting Karachi port. Initial reports suggest that Karachi Port has been severely damaged in the attack, with a large part of the port completely destroyed. The Indian Navy reportedly fired Tomahawk and Brahmos class missiles toward Karachi Port as part of the operation.

Prior to the naval response, Pakistan launched a series of air strikes using drones and missiles, targeting military and civilian areas in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan. India's Air Defence System intercepted all incoming threats, preventing any major damage. In the Jammu region, eight missiles aimed at Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia were successfully neutralized. Indian forces also thwarted attempts to strike military bases in Pathankot and Udhampur.

The Indian response has been measured and controlled, with a clear message that it would respond "in the same domain (and) with the same intensity" as the attacks launched by Pakistan. A defence ministry spokesperson stated that India remains "fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people". The Indian Armed Forces have reiterated their commitment to non-escalation, provided it is respected by the Pakistani military.

Operation Sindoor was launched after a terror attack in Pahalgam. As part of this operation, Indian forces had destroyed nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and deep within Pakistani territory. This retaliatory operation came in response to a wave of terror attacks and ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).

Tensions remain high, and the situation is being closely monitored. While Pakistan has claimed to have intercepted some missiles, these claims have not been independently verified. Emergency services have been activated in Karachi, and the Pakistani army has been put on high alert.
