In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, a woman named Binodini Rath was critically injured on Thursday, August 7, 2025, after allegedly being attacked by a food delivery agent following an argument about a delay in her order. The incident occurred at her home in the Shampur area of the city.

Reports indicate that Rath questioned the delivery boy about the lateness of her food delivery, which led to a heated exchange. The argument escalated, and the delivery agent allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon. Some reports suggest the weapon was a cleaver or cutter.

As a result of the attack, Rath sustained serious injuries to her head, neck, hands, and legs. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment. Her condition is reported to be critical but stable.

Local residents and family members intervened after hearing Rath's cries for help and managed to detain the delivery agent, preventing his escape. They recovered the weapon and promptly informed the local police.

Police arrived at the scene and took the accused delivery boy into custody for questioning. An investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and the motive behind the attack. Authorities have not yet released an official statement.

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who are demanding action against the food delivery agent. The incident also raises concerns about the safety of gig workers and the potential risks associated with their jobs.
