In a tragic turn of events, Asif Qureshi, a cousin of Bollywood actors Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem, was murdered in Delhi on Thursday night following a dispute over parking. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. in the Bhogal Market Lane area of Jangpura, under the Nizamuddin police station's jurisdiction.
According to reports, the altercation began when Asif asked a neighbor to move his scooter, which was blocking the entrance to his gate. This led to a heated exchange, and the neighbor, along with his brother, allegedly attacked Asif with a sharp weapon. Asif was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but was declared dead on arrival.
The Delhi police have arrested two men, identified as Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18), who lived near Asif's house.
Asif's family claims that the attackers had previous altercations with him and had even threatened to kill him. According to Asif's wife, Shaheen, a neighbor parked a scooter right outside their house at around 9:30-10 p.m. on Thursday. When Asif requested him to move the vehicle, the man allegedly abused Asif and threatened to return. Shortly after, the man returned with his brother and stabbed Asif with a sharp weapon.
A relative of the deceased stated that the accused and their family members had previously barged into Asif's home with a large stone in November of last year and attempted to "kill him". She recounted that they had to intervene at the time. Regarding the events of Thursday night, the relative stated that the accused's family members attacked Asif mercilessly. She accused Ujjwal, the elder brother, of fatally stabbing Asif in the chest with a sharp object, causing him to collapse and bleed to death.
Asif is survived by his two wives. His family has described the murder as brutal and senseless, emphasizing how a minor issue escalated into a fatal act of violence. They are demanding strict action against the accused.
