In a dominant display of skill and teamwork, the Indian women's cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by 97 runs to clinch the Women's Tri-Nation ODI Series title. The final match, held at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, May 11, 2025, saw India outclass the hosts in all departments, securing a well-deserved victory.

India's triumph was built on a solid batting performance, spearheaded by vice-captain Smriti Mandhana's magnificent century. Mandhana's 116 off 101 balls, studded with 15 fours and two sixes, set the stage for a formidable total. Vital contributions from the top and middle order, including Harleen Deol (47), captain Harmanpreet Kaur (41), and Jemimah Rodrigues (44), propelled India to a commanding 342/7 in their 50 overs.

The Sri Lankan team, in response, struggled to build partnerships and maintain the required run rate. Despite a half-century from captain Chamari Athapaththu (51), the hosts were eventually bowled out for 245 in 48.2 overs. Nilakshi Silva contributed 48 runs, but it wasn't enough to challenge India's imposing total.

India's bowling attack proved too strong for the Sri Lankan batters. Pacer Amanjot Kaur spearheaded the bowling attack, returning with figures of 3 for 54, while Sneh Rana's exceptional spin bowling earned her 4 wickets for just 38 runs. Rana was also named Player of the Series for her consistent performance throughout the tournament, picking up a total of 15 wickets in 5 games.

The Women's Tri-Nation ODI Series featured India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa. India showcased their prowess by winning three of their four group stage matches, only losing to Sri Lanka in one encounter. India's earlier victories in the series included a 15-run win against South Africa and a 23-run win against South Africa. Sri Lanka managed to win two matches against South Africa and one against India in the group stage.

This victory in the Tri-Nation Series marks a significant achievement for the Indian women's cricket team as they continue their preparations for the upcoming Women's ODI World Cup, which will be hosted in India. The series provided valuable opportunities to fine-tune their squad, identify key players, and solidify their strategies. With a blend of experienced players and emerging talents, the team looks well-prepared to compete for the coveted title on home soil.

Following the Tri-Nation Series, the Indian women's team is scheduled to tour England in June and July 2025 for a series of three One Day International (ODI) and five Twenty20 International (T20I) matches.
