Sunita Ahuja, wife of Bollywood actor Govinda, recently opened up about her marriage, expressing her belief that their relationship has been affected by negative influences. In a candid interview, she shared her feelings about protecting her marriage and recounted the challenges they have faced.
Sunita revealed that she fell in love with Govinda at the young age of 15 and defied her father's wishes to marry him. Her father, aware of the film industry's reputation, had reservations and even disapproved of their union to the point of not attending their wedding. He had hoped she would marry a businessman, even finding a potential match for her in Holland. Despite her father's disapproval, Sunita followed her heart.
Rumors of trouble in Govinda and Sunita's marriage have circulated for some time. While Sunita has previously dismissed such claims, her recent statements suggest underlying issues. When asked about the current state of their relationship, Sunita alluded to the presence of negativity, stating, "I don't know who has cast an evil eye on our relationship. I won't let anyone take my husband away from me".
Sunita also credited her mother-in-law for their marriage. She revealed that when she married Govinda, he was living with his extended family. Despite this, she loved him and stayed in his house because of her mother-in-law, who wanted them to get married. Sunita recalled her mother-in-law's words to Govinda: "Chichi, if you leave Sunita, you will become a beggar".
Govinda and Sunita married in 1987, when she was 18 years old and Govinda was still establishing himself in the film industry. They initially kept their marriage private. The couple has two children: a daughter, Tina Ahuja, and a son, Yashvardhan, who is preparing to enter the film industry.
Sunita has often been the one to bring Govinda into the spotlight, even when he prefers to remain silent about his personal and professional life. She has previously spoken about the politics Govinda faced and voiced her disapproval of him sitting idle at home.
