A teenager, identified as 18-year-old Md Saad, was found murdered in Delhi's Nizamuddin area on May 12, 2025. Police have arrested five individuals, including a juvenile, in connection with the crime. The motive behind the murder is linked to a love affair involving Saad's friend and the sister of one of the accused.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Ravi Singh, Saad was found dead near a drain in Nizamuddin West with a deep cut on his throat. The nature of the injury indicated a deliberate killing.

The arrested individuals are Altamash (18), identified as the main assailant and a battery repair worker; Faizan (22), a rickshaw driver and history-sheeter from Kot Mohalla; Dilshad (18); and Abrar (18). A 17-year-old boy has also been apprehended under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Police investigations revealed that the murder stemmed from a romantic relationship between Azeem, a friend of Saad, and Zara, the sister of Altamash. Altamash was reportedly against this relationship, and Saad had been trying to persuade him to accept it.

DCP Ravi Singh stated that Saad's attempts to mediate on behalf of Azeem were seen as unwarranted interference by Altamash. Enraged by this, Altamash allegedly conspired with his associates to kill Saad. On May 12, the group lured Saad to a spot near the drain where Altamash slit his throat with a sharp weapon. A murder case has been registered under BNS Section 103.

Authorities have taken all the accused into custody. Altamash, Faizan, Dilshad, and Abrar are facing charges related to the murder, while the 17-year-old will be dealt with under the Juvenile Justice Act.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the Nizamuddin community. The tragic death of Md Saad, who was trying to help his friend, highlights the severe consequences that can arise from personal disputes.
