Udaipur is experiencing heightened tensions following an assault on a vegetable vendor in the Dhanmandi area on Thursday night. The incident, which began as a minor argument over the purchase of fruits and vegetables, escalated into a communal clash involving members of two communities. Police have detained six individuals in connection with the violence and are conducting a thorough investigation.

According to reports, the initial altercation occurred between the vegetable vendor and a group of customers. The vendor alleged that the group, consisting of approximately 5-7 individuals from a specific community, returned to his stall and physically assaulted him, causing injuries to his nose and mouth. During the ensuing chaos, unidentified individuals set fire to two roadside vegetable carts, further escalating the situation. Some reports indicate the vendor was attacked with a sword.

Upon receiving news of the violence, a large contingent of police officers from four police stations, including Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal, rushed to the scene to bring the situation under control. Firefighters were also dispatched to extinguish the blaze. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage and conducting investigations to identify all perpetrators involved.

The injured vegetable vendor was immediately taken to Maharana Bhupal government hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment. News of the assault quickly spread, leading a large crowd of people from the vendor's community to gather at the market to protest and demand the immediate arrest of those responsible. Police officials engaged with the demonstrators, assuring them of a thorough investigation and promising strict action against those found guilty.

In response to the unrest, authorities have deployed additional forces in the area to maintain peace and prevent further escalation. Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal stated that the situation is currently under control and that police are maintaining a strong presence in the area. He also appealed to the public to maintain calm and assured them that justice would be served.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern among local residents, with many expressing fears about potential communal disharmony. Community leaders have called for peace and urged all parties to refrain from violence and maintain harmony. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to ensure that those responsible for the assault and arson are brought to justice.
