A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Haryana's Nuh district on charges of spying for Pakistan. The accused, identified as Armaan, is alleged to have shared sensitive military information with an individual working at the High Commission of Pakistan in Delhi. This arrest marks the fourth such incident in Haryana within a week, raising concerns about potential espionage networks operating in the region.
According to police reports, Armaan was apprehended following a tip-off from central investigation agencies. He is accused of transmitting information related to the Indian Army and other military activities to Pakistan through WhatsApp and other social media platforms. A search of his mobile phone revealed conversations, photos, and videos shared with Pakistani contacts. Authorities have booked Armaan under the Official Secrets Act and relevant sections related to treason. A local court has remanded him to six days of police custody for further investigation.
In a related development, Haryana Police have also arrested Jyoti Malhotra, a YouTuber who runs a travel vlog named "Travel with Jo," on charges of espionage. Malhotra is accused of sharing sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence operatives. Investigations reveal that Malhotra came into contact with Ehsan-ur-Rahim, also known as Danish, an official at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, in 2023. Danish, who has since been expelled from India for espionage activities, allegedly introduced Malhotra to Pakistani intelligence officials.
Malhotra reportedly traveled to Pakistan on multiple occasions and remained in contact with her Pakistani handlers through encrypted messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat. She is accused of providing sensitive details about Indian military installations and movements. To avoid detection, Malhotra allegedly saved the contact information of one intelligence official under a false name. She has been charged under the Official Secrets Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and is currently in police custody.
Furthermore, a 25-year-old postgraduate student named Devender Singh from Kaithal district has also been arrested for allegedly having links with Pakistani intelligence operatives. Singh is accused of sharing strategic details, including updates on "Operation Sindoor," an Indian military retaliation against terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He allegedly came into contact with ISI agents during a religious trip to Kartarpur Sahib. Singh had drawn attention through social media posts featuring firearms and controversial remarks praising Pakistan. He has been charged under the National Security Act (NSA) and sections related to sedition.
These arrests suggest a potentially larger espionage network operating in Haryana and Punjab, prompting national security agencies to intensify surveillance and counterintelligence operations in the region. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the intelligence leak and identify any additional collaborators.
The recent surge in espionage-related arrests in Haryana and neighboring states highlights the ongoing threat of cross-border intelligence gathering and the importance of vigilance in safeguarding sensitive information. Authorities are taking these incidents seriously and are committed to dismantling any networks that pose a threat to national security.
