Union Home Minister Amit Shah led a "Tiranga Yatra" in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 18, 2025, to honor the Indian Armed Forces and celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized the event, which saw enthusiastic participation from citizens, BJP leaders, local MLAs, and residents. The march commenced from Nal Sarovar Chowkdi and concluded at Maharana Pratap Chowk, with participants chanting patriotic slogans and paying tribute to the armed forces' bravery.
Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which resulted in the death of 26 people. The operation targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, nearly 100 terrorists were neutralized during the operation. The "Tiranga Yatra," which runs from May 13 to May 23, commemorates the success of Operation Sindoor. Senior BJP leaders, including Sambit Patra, Vinod Tawde, and Tarun Chugh, are coordinating the initiative.
During the rally, Amit Shah addressed the gathering, stating that the echoes of Operation Sindoor had reached every corner of the world. He lauded the armed forces for their valor, which he said had made Operation Sindoor synonymous with the eradication of terrorism. Shah also shared a post on X, highlighting the brave soldiers who contributed to the operation's success.
The "Tiranga Yatra" witnessed widespread participation from people in Sanand and surrounding areas, as well as social and political leaders. Participants waved the tricolor flag with pride and chanted "Bharat Mata Ki Jai," saluting the armed forces' courage. The BJP has been organizing similar yatras across the country to honor the military for Operation Sindoor.
Amit Shah, who was on a two-day visit to Gujarat, also inaugurated the newly constructed building of KK Patel and Madhuben K Patel Nursing College in Gozaria, Mehsana district. He addressed the inauguration ceremony as well.
