A major terror plot was foiled in Hyderabad, India, with the arrest of two individuals suspected to have links to the Islamic State (ISIS). The Telangana police conducted the operation, apprehending the two operatives, averting a potential act of terror.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Siraj-ur-Rehman, 29, from Vizianagaram district, and Sayeed Sameer, 28, a resident of Bhoiguda in Secunderabad. According to police reports, the two men had been procuring explosives online and had even conducted trial explosions in Vizianagaram. After the successful trial, they were allegedly planning to execute blasts in the city.

Law enforcement officials indicated that the suspects were in contact with a handler based in Saudi Arabia, who was allegedly indoctrinating them and encouraging them to carry out terror activities. While the exact locations targeted for the planned blasts remain unclear, authorities are diligently investigating all possible leads. Raids were conducted on Siraj's residence in Vizianagaram, which led to Sameer's arrest based on the information gathered. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the source of the explosives and how the two men acquired the skills to assemble them.

The two suspects reportedly connected through social media, where they began discussing ISIS activities. After establishing trust, they decided to engage in terror activities, procuring explosives online and conducting a trial in a secluded area of Vizianagaram. Following the successful trial, they were planning to execute a "big" operation.

The swift action by the Telangana police underscores the continued vigilance and efforts to counter-terrorism. This incident highlights the persistent threat posed by ISIS-inspired individuals and the importance of monitoring online activities and social media for signs of radicalization and terror planning. Authorities are working to uncover the full extent of the plot, including potential targets and other individuals who may be involved. The arrests have raised concerns about the reach and influence of ISIS networks and the need for continued counter-terrorism efforts. The investigation is ongoing, with law enforcement agencies working to gather more information about the suspects' activities and connections.
