Ram Charan, Divyenndu Sharma, and Janhvi Kapoor have reportedly commenced shooting for their upcoming film, tentatively titled "Peddi." The movie, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, is generating significant buzz as a rural sports drama set against a rustic backdrop.
Ram Charan was last seen in Game Changer, which failed to make box office expectations. Following that project, Ram Charan is diving into "Peddi," a project that promises a raw and intense portrayal. The film has already garnered attention with the release of its first glimpse on Rama Navami, showcasing Ram Charan in a rugged avatar, swinging a bat with fervor. The film is slated to release on March 27, 2026.
Divyenndu Sharma, known for his role in the popular web series "Mirzapur," is also playing a key role in the film. Recent reports suggest that Ram Charan and Divyenndu are currently filming key scenes together in Hyderabad, including a fight sequence, with candid moments from the set showing the actors and director Buchi Babu Sana in high spirits.
Janhvi Kapoor, who is playing the female lead, had previously participated in a brief shooting schedule and a special photoshoot for "Peddi." This film marks Janhvi Kapoor's second Telugu venture after "Devara," where she stars alongside Jr NTR. She will soon be rejoining Ram Charan to continue shooting in Hyderabad, with the schedule expected to have resumed around May 15, 2025, after Ram Charan's brief hiatus to unveil his wax statue at Madame Tussauds in London.
"Peddi" is described as a blend of real and fictional tales rooted in village life, aiming to resonate with audiences through its core emotions and incidents. The narrative is set in the 1980s in rural Andhra Pradesh and revolves around a spirited villager who unites his community through sports to defend their pride against a powerful rival. Ram Charan's character sports a rugged look, complete with long hair, a thick beard, and a nose ring. He will also be using the Vizianagaram dialect for the first time in his career to bring authenticity to his character.
The film boasts a stellar cast, including Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar and veteran actor Jagapathi Babu, adding further weight to the ensemble. The music is being composed by AR Rahman, with cinematography by Rathnavelu, editing by Navin Nooli, and production design by Avinash Kolla.
The film is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, in collaboration with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The makers of "Peddi" have expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming response to the first glimpse and have promised to deliver a great film.
