A high-level conclave of NDA Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers, presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, convened in New Delhi on May 25, 2025. The meeting, organized by the BJP, focused on critical issues, including Operation Sindoor, caste enumeration, and good governance practices across NDA-ruled states. Senior cabinet ministers were also in attendance.
The agenda encompassed a wide array of topics, with a significant emphasis on development and the sharing of best governance practices among NDA states. Chief Ministers presented their governments' initiatives and innovations, showcasing successful governance models. Discussions also centered on upcoming national milestones, such as the first anniversary of the Modi 3.0 government, the tenth anniversary of International Yoga Day, and the 50th anniversary of the Emergency.
One of the key highlights was Operation Sindoor, which drew widespread praise. NDA leaders lauded the armed forces for their courage and the Prime Minister for his decisive leadership in responding to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. A resolution was passed to congratulate the armed forces and PM Modi for the success of Operation Sindoor, with Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde noting that it had significantly boosted the morale and self-confidence of the Indian public. The resolution also emphasized Modi's unwavering support for the armed forces and the operation's role in delivering a befitting response to terrorists and their sponsors.
Another significant agenda item was caste enumeration. The conclave participants welcomed the central government's decision to include caste enumeration in the next national census. A resolution was passed to commend the government for this move.
The NDA leadership also addressed the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, declared on June 25, 1975. Leaders resolved to mark the anniversary to remind citizens of the widespread political turmoil and suppression of civil liberties that occurred during that period under then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The government had announced in 2024 that June 25 would be remembered annually as "Constitution Murder Day" to highlight the importance of safeguarding democratic freedoms against authoritarian tendencies.
The meeting also served as a platform to discuss preparations for the first anniversary of the Modi 3.0 government and the decade of International Yoga Day, underscoring the government's commitment to promoting development, unity, and well-being across the nation.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar attended the NDA conclave, despite skipping the NITI Aayog meeting the previous day.
