A prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Uttar Pradesh is facing scrutiny after a video appearing to show him in a compromising situation with a woman at the party office went viral. Amar Kishore Kashyap, the BJP district president of Gonda, has been issued a show-cause notice by the party's state leadership, demanding an explanation within seven days.

The controversy stems from CCTV footage reportedly recorded on April 12 at the BJP district office in Gonda, approximately 120 kilometers from Lucknow. The video allegedly depicts Kashyap with a woman, purportedly a BJP worker, engaging in what has been described as "inappropriate" behavior on the stairs of the party office. The footage shows them pausing to embrace before going upstairs.

The emergence of the video has ignited a firestorm within the BJP, with many party members expressing outrage and demanding swift action. A formal complaint was filed with the BJP leadership, labeling the video "shameful" and calling for accountability.

Kashyap has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, claiming the video is being misrepresented by his political opponents. He stated that the woman in the video is a party worker who felt unwell and requested a place to rest. According to Kashyap, he was merely assisting her, and the embrace was simply him supporting her as she felt dizzy while climbing the stairs. He insists that the footage is being misused to tarnish his reputation.

Despite Kashyap's defense, the BJP's state leadership has taken the matter seriously. Govind Narayan Shukla, the BJP's state general secretary, issued the show-cause notice, stating that the circulated video has brought to light conduct that negatively impacts the party's reputation and falls under the category of indiscipline. The notice demands a written explanation within a week, warning that failure to provide a satisfactory response will result in strict disciplinary action.

The incident has sparked widespread debate and political chatter, raising questions about conduct and ethics within the party. The BJP is under pressure to address the situation decisively to maintain its public image and uphold its standards of conduct. The party's response to Kashyap's explanation will be closely watched as it navigates this sensitive issue.
