Nava Raipur is poised to become the home of India's first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Special Economic Zone (SEZ), marking a significant step in the nation's technological advancement. The project, with an investment of ₹1,000 crore, is set to transform the region into a digital and technological hub, attracting global companies and creating numerous employment opportunities.
This dedicated zone is designed specifically for the development and operation of AI and computer data-related technologies. It will house state-of-the-art computer systems and servers capable of running AI systems that can perform human-like reasoning. This infrastructure will enable major global companies to conduct their digital operations from Nava Raipur, positioning the city as a key player in the global AI landscape.
RackBank Data Centres Private Limited is the driving force behind this ambitious project. The company's ₹1,000 crore investment will facilitate the construction of a cutting-edge data center spanning approximately 6 acres, with 1.5 lakh square feet of operational space. The facility will be equipped with the latest technology, adhering to green building certification standards, utilizing solar energy, water conservation techniques, and energy-efficient equipment. Future plans include the construction of four high-density data centers with a combined capacity of 80 megawatts, capable of supporting digital networks across multiple states.
The government is providing significant support to this initiative through tax exemptions and other legal relaxations, aimed at accelerating the development and adoption of new technologies within the SEZ. This support underscores the government's commitment to fostering innovation and technological leadership in the AI sector.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has hailed the AI SEZ as a "new beginning" for the state, emphasizing its potential to generate employment opportunities for the youth and bring technological recognition to the region. The project aligns with the national visions of Digital India and Make in India, aiming to position India as a self-reliant producer and host of AI services.
The establishment of the AI SEZ is expected to create approximately 500 direct and 1,500 indirect jobs, with priority given to local residents. These opportunities will span various roles, including IT engineers, data scientists, cybersecurity experts, and network managers. To prepare the local workforce for these roles, RackBank plans to collaborate with ITIs, engineering colleges, and polytechnic colleges in the state to launch specialized training programs.
This initiative is not just about creating a data center; it's about building a comprehensive ecosystem that fosters innovation and technological advancement. The AI SEZ will provide advanced services in various fields, including healthtech, defense, fintech, smart agriculture, and data analytics. By consolidating AI computing, data storage, processing, and analytics under one roof, the SEZ will create a conducive environment for high-tech businesses to thrive.
Furthermore, the AI SEZ is expected to boost socio-economic growth in Chhattisgarh. It will provide advanced AI solutions to the agriculture and education sectors, benefiting students and farmers in the region. Smart farming techniques, enabled by AI tools, real-time crop monitoring, weather forecasting, and intelligent supply chain solutions, will directly benefit local agriculture. Additionally, the SEZ will extend digital infrastructure to remote tribal areas, bringing telemedicine, e-education, and online governance to previously underserved regions.
With the launch of India's first AI SEZ in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh is taking a bold step towards becoming a leading tech hub. This initiative will not only drive economic growth and create employment opportunities but also contribute to India's overall technological capabilities and global competitiveness in the field of artificial intelligence.
