Disha Patani is set to make her Hollywood debut in the upcoming supernatural action thriller, "Holiguards." The film marks a significant milestone in Patani's career, as she steps onto the global stage alongside a cast of international stars. "Holiguards" is directed by Kevin Spacey, marking his return to directing after more than two decades.
"Holiguards" boasts a stellar cast including Dolph Lundgren, Tyrese Gibson, Brianna Hildebrand, Eric Roberts, Harry Goodwins, Swen Temmel, and Sonia Pim Couling. The film was shot extensively in Mexico and has generated buzz during its post-production phase. According to insiders, Disha shot for the film's pilot in Durango, Mexico, earlier this year alongside Tyrese Gibson and Harry Goodwins. The footage from these scenes is expected to be visually spectacular, offering fans a treat.
The film is the first installment in a planned franchise titled "Statiguards vs. Holiguards". The movie is set in a near-future world fractured by hidden supernatural forces, where two ancient warrior factions—the Holiguards and the Statiguards—wage a secret war for control of humanity's fate. Amidst this conflict, a young woman discovers that she's the daughter of two rival leaders and could end the conflict. Meanwhile, a Statiguard strategist prepares a catastrophic attack in Paris using a nuclear device and an army of mind-controlled civilians, channeling energy from a cosmic portal to awaken an ancient force known as the Prime.
Kevin Spacey described his return to movie-making as a "liberating" experience. The film had a budget of approximately $10 million and is the first feature film produced by Elledgy Media, owned by Ukrainian entrepreneur Elvira Gavrilova Paterson. The script was penned by Sergey Torchilin and Lado Okhotnikov.
A trailer for "Holiguards" was privately screened at the Cannes Film Festival, where Spacey made a prominent return to public life. He attended multiple events, including the amfAR gala dinner and the Better World Fund gala, where he received a lifetime achievement award.
Prior to "Holiguards," Disha Patani has worked in the international project "Kung Fu Yoga" with Jackie Chan. Besides her Hollywood debut, Disha is also preparing for "Welcome to the Jungle," the third installment in the "Welcome" franchise, which is set to release in theaters in 2025.
