While addressing the Indian community in London, BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, who is leading an all-party delegation in the UK, stated that Pakistan is not a "democratic country." He asserted that the armed forces of Pakistan control the country and are "unelectable and unaccountable."
Prasad criticized the history of military rule in Pakistan, citing examples of past military rulers such as Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan, Zia-ul-Haq, and Musharraf. He also targeted the current Army Chief, General Asim Munir, referring to him as a "failed general" who was promoted to Field Marshal.
Prasad's remarks were made during an interaction with the Indian diaspora in London, where he reaffirmed India's strong stance against cross-border terrorism. He highlighted the recent Operation Sindoor as an example of India's decisive counter-terrorism efforts, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. According to Prasad, Indian forces struck terrorist camps in Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Muzaffarabad on May 7, eliminating approximately 100 terrorists in 20 minutes with zero civilian casualties. He added that Pakistan responded with missile attacks on Indian cities, but the Indian Air Force successfully intercepted every missile.
The all-party delegation, which includes MPs Daggubati Purandeswari, Samik Bhattacharya, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Ghulam Ali Khatana, and Amar Singh, as well as former Union Minister MJ Akbar and former Ambassador Pankaj Saran, met with UK's Shadow Foreign Secretary Priti Patel. They conveyed India's firm commitment to fighting cross-border terrorism and explained how Operation Sindoor sets a new benchmark in India's counter-terror efforts.
Ravi Shankar Prasad also pointed out that 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden was found in Pakistan. He stated that the terrorists involved in the hijacking incident to rescue Masood Azhar were killed, and Masood Azhar's family members were also killed by the Indian Armed Forces under Operation Sindoor.
Prior to visiting the UK, the delegation visited France, Italy, Denmark, Belgium and Germany to present India's perspective on terrorism and counter global misinformation. M Thambidurai, another member of the delegation, emphasized the critical role of exposing Pakistan's terrorist activities on the global stage, describing them as a threat not only to India but to the world. He underscored India's democratic values as a counterpoint to Pakistan's actions.
