The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted extensive raids at 32 locations across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on June 5, 2025, intensifying its crackdown on Pakistan-backed terror networks. This operation is part of NIA's ongoing investigation into a terror conspiracy aimed at destabilizing the region.

The coordinated searches targeted residential premises of individuals allegedly associated with various Pakistan-based offshoots of proscribed terrorist organizations. These groups include The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu and Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, and the People's Anti-Fascist Front (PAAF). These organizations have affiliations with established terror groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Al-Badr.

NIA investigations suggest that these individuals are under scrutiny for facilitating terrorist activities, including collecting and distributing sticky bombs, magnetic bombs, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), arms, ammunition, narcotics, and funds. The agency believes that these Pakistan-backed organizations are conspiring to incite terror and violence by radicalizing local youth and mobilizing overground workers to disrupt peace and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.

The investigation has revealed that Pakistan-based operatives are using social media platforms and online applications to promote and facilitate terrorist activities. Furthermore, these operatives are utilizing drones to deliver arms, ammunition, explosives, and narcotics to their cadres in the Kashmir Valley.

During the searches, the NIA recovered two live cartridges, one fired bullet head, and one bayonet, in addition to a large number of digital devices containing substantial amounts of data.

The NIA had registered a case on June 21, 2022, to dismantle the terror network operated by Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Mujahideen, Jaish-e-Mohammad, and their offshoots. Raids were conducted in Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, Baramulla and Kupwara districts, assisted by central paramilitary forces and the J&K police.
