Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu and Kashmir on June 6, 2025, is marked by heightened security measures and the inauguration of significant development projects. This visit is his first to the Union Territory following "Operation Sindoor," launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

A multi-tier security arrangement has been implemented for the Prime Minister's visit, with senior officers from the police, paramilitary forces, army, and intelligence personally overseeing the arrangements. Heavy security deployments, including drones and advanced equipment, are in place around the venues. Security has been intensified along the borders and in the hinterland to prevent infiltration. Area domination operations and raids on suspected individuals have also been ramped up. Traffic diversions and road closures are expected, especially on roads leading to Katra Stadium, where the Prime Minister will address a public rally.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Chenab Bridge and India's first cable-stayed Anji Bridge, both significant feats of engineering. He will also flag off Vande Bharat trains, marking the completion of the 272-km Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL), which will provide direct train connectivity to the Kashmir Valley. The USBRL project, constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 43,780 crore, includes 36 tunnels (spanning 119 km).

In addition to the railway projects, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate numerous other development projects worth over Rs 46,000 crore in Katra. These include road projects such as the road widening from Rafiabad to Kupwara on National Highway-701, the construction of the Shopian bypass road on NH-444, and flyover projects at Sangrama Junction and Bemina Junction in Srinagar.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inspected the arrangements in Katra ahead of the Prime Minister's visit, directing officials to ensure strict security, safety measures, and seamless coordination among all departments. He stated that the dedication of the USBRL project is a historic leap for Jammu and Kashmir, which has witnessed unprecedented growth under Prime Minister Modi's leadership.
