Katra railway station was buzzing with excitement as students from various local schools gathered, waving national flags and displaying artwork and slogans related to the Jammu-Kashmir rail link project. The children were there to celebrate and participate in a ride on the debut passenger rail service.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared plans to extend operations from Jammu station starting in September, as the station undergoes renovations. Currently, the Vande Bharat train will only run from Katra. The school students expressed their excitement about the occasion. Niharika, a class VII student, mentioned her anticipation about traveling to Srinagar with her family now that the train has launched.
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Chenab Bridge and Anji Khad Bridge before flagging off the two Vande Bharat trains. He also inspected the bridges and interacted with engineers and workers on the project.
The students' participation added a vibrant and joyful element to the launch, highlighting the railway's significance for the region's future. The new rail link promises enhanced connectivity and economic opportunities, and the enthusiasm of the young participants underscores its importance to the local community.
