The engagement of Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj has captured the attention of social media, particularly a video showcasing their dance to the Bollywood hit 'Gallan Goodiyan.' The event, held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, in Lucknow, was attended by prominent political figures, including Akhilesh Yadav and Dimple Yadav.
The viral video features Priya Saroj enthusiastically dancing to the popular song, while Rinku Singh initially appears hesitant before joining in. This endearing contrast has resonated with many online, highlighting a lighthearted and personal moment amidst the grandeur of the engagement ceremony. The event was also graced by senior politicians such as Rajeev Shukla, Jaya Bachchan, Shivpal Yadav, and Ramgopal Yadav, as well as cricketer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, adding to the star-studded affair.
Priya Saroj, a first-time Member of Parliament representing Machhlishahr, secured her seat on a Samajwadi Party ticket in the 2024 general elections. Prior to her political career, Saroj worked as a lawyer in the Supreme Court and holds a law degree from Amity University, Noida. Rinku Singh, known for his role with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has become a popular figure in Indian cricket. While he didn't have a spectacular IPL 2025 season, scoring 206 runs in 13 matches, his engagement has put him back in the spotlight.
According to reports, Rinku and Priya met through a mutual friend about a year ago, and their families arranged the marriage with mutual consent. Priya's father, Tufani Saroj, an SP MLA from Kerakat, confirmed that both families were happy with the union.
Other videos from the ceremony reveal Priya getting emotional during the ring exchange. For the ceremony, Rinku sported a white outfit, while Priya looked stunning in a pink dress. They exchanged specially designed rings; Priya chose a ring from Kolkata, and Rinku got his from Mumbai. The menu featured both of their favorite dishes, including Bengali rasgulla and Kaju Paneer Roll for Priya and Paneer Tikka and Matar Malai for Rinku.
SP MP Awadhesh Prasad conveyed his best wishes to the couple. The wedding is reportedly scheduled for November 18 at the Taj Hotel in Varanasi. The celebrations began on Saturday night and featured an exclusively vegetarian menu. Strict security measures were in place, with only 300 specially invited guests allowed entry via a barcode scanning system. Private security and police forces were present inside and outside the hotel, with a special security team on alert.
