On the occasion of Eid-al-Adha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed warm greetings to the people of Bangladesh in a letter addressed to Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the country's interim government. The exchange of letters highlights the importance of compassion, brotherhood, and collaboration between the two nations.

In his letter dated June 4, 2025, PM Modi extended heartfelt wishes on behalf of the Indian government and its citizens. He described Eid al-Adha as a celebration of the "timeless values of sacrifice, compassion, and brotherhood," emphasizing its integral role in India's diverse cultural heritage. Modi noted that the festival is celebrated with immense joy and fervor by millions of Muslims across India, serving as a reminder of the importance of building a peaceful and inclusive world.

Muhammad Yunus responded on June 6, expressing his appreciation for PM Modi's thoughtful message and kind greetings. He acknowledged the shared values between India and Bangladesh, stating that Eid-ul-Adha is a time of reflection that brings communities together and inspires collaboration for the greater good of people worldwide. Yunus conveyed optimism about the continued spirit of mutual respect and understanding guiding the two nations toward working together for the well-being of their citizens. He also extended his best wishes to PM Modi and the people of India, wishing them good health, happiness, peace, progress, and prosperity.

The exchange of greetings occurred amidst ongoing political uncertainty in Bangladesh. Despite regional challenges, both countries continue to maintain strong diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations. The letters exchanged between PM Modi and Professor Yunus reflect mutual goodwill and a shared commitment to fostering cooperation for the benefit of both nations.

Earlier on June 7, 2025, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus offered his Eid-ul-Adha prayers at the National Eidgah, joining thousands of Muslims. Following the prayers, he addressed the attendees, saying, "It was wonderful to see everyone come together at the Eid jamaat today. Eid Mubarak to all. On this sacred day, I ask everyone to pray for the welfare of the country."

The exchange of Eid greetings and prayers for the nation's well-being underscores the importance of unity, compassion, and shared values in building strong bilateral ties and fostering a peaceful and inclusive world.
