The investigation into the death of Raja Raghuvanshi, an Indore-based businessman who was murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, has taken a significant turn with the apprehension of three alleged hitmen. These individuals are now in police custody, adding another layer to the already complex and disturbing case.
Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife, Sonam, were married on May 11th and embarked on their honeymoon on May 20th. Their trip took a tragic turn when Raja's body was discovered in a gorge on June 2nd, approximately ten days after the couple was reported missing. The circumstances surrounding his death and Sonam's subsequent disappearance sparked a wide-ranging investigation, which has now led authorities to believe that Sonam orchestrated her husband's murder.
According to police reports, Sonam allegedly hired contract killers to carry out the crime. The three men who are suspected of being those hitmen, Vicky, Akash, and Anand, have been arrested. It's believed Sonam wanted to end the marriage to continue a relationship with her boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha, who has also been taken into custody and is considered the mastermind behind the murder.
Adding to the intrigue, a tourist guide reported seeing Raja and Sonam with three men, who were not local and spoke in Hindi, on May 23rd in Mawlakhiat, Meghalaya. This sighting was the last time Raja was seen alive. The guide's statement helped police expand their search and eventually led to the arrest of the three male suspects.
Sonam was found in Uttar Pradesh, over 1200 kilometers from Meghalaya, at a roadside eatery in Ghazipur. Conflicting reports initially emerged about whether she surrendered or was found in distress, but she is now considered the prime suspect in Raja's murder.
The family of Raja Raghuvanshi has raised concerns and questions about the events leading up to his death. His mother revealed that Raja was reluctant to go on the honeymoon so soon after the wedding, but Sonam had already booked the tickets. She also noted that Sonam didn't book return tickets. Furthermore, Raja's mother questioned why Sonam insisted that Raja wear expensive jewelry, worth over 1 million rupees, on their honeymoon. The police investigation revealed that a gold ring and a neck chain were missing from Raja's body, reinforcing suspicions that he was murdered for financial gain.
Meghalaya Police have stated that the motive for Raja's murder appears to be Sonam's alleged affair with Raj Kushwaha. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to gather more evidence and clarify the details of the case.
