Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet with the all-party delegations today, June 10, 2025, at 7 PM at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. This meeting marks the culmination of "Operation Sindoor's" global outreach, an initiative launched in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists.
Following the deadly attack, the Indian Armed Forces initiated Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. In the wake of these events, the government sent all-party delegations to various countries to explain India's position on cross-border terrorism and to garner international support for its actions.
The all-party delegations, comprising 59 lawmakers and former diplomats, were divided into seven groups, each with 8-9 members and a designated leader. These delegations visited 33 countries, including those within the European Union, to engage with audiences, policymakers, and elected representatives. The primary objective was to highlight Pakistan's role in sponsoring terrorism against India and to advocate for international measures to address this issue.
Several prominent leaders from various political parties led these delegations. These included Shashi Tharoor from the Congress party, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Baijayant Panda from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sanjay Jha from Janata Dal (United), Kanimozhi Karunanidhi from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Supriya Sule from Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar), and Shrikant Shinde from Shiv Sena.
The delegations presented India's perspective on terrorism and called for Pakistan to be placed on the Financial Action Task Force's (FATF) grey list.
The diplomatic outreach following Operation Sindoor involved over 50 individuals, including Members of Parliament from various political parties, former ambassadors, and former government officials.
The delegation leaders were assigned specific regions to visit. Baijayant Panda (BJP) led a delegation to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria. Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP) led a delegation to the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the EU, Italy, and Denmark. Shashi Tharoor (Congress) led a delegation to the United States, Panama, Guyana, Brazil, and Colombia. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK) led a delegation to Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, and Russia. Supriya Sule (NCP-SCP) led a delegation to Egypt, Qatar, Ethiopia, and South Africa.
The meeting with Prime Minister Modi will serve as an opportunity for the delegation members to share their experiences and insights from their interactions with global leaders and policymakers. It will also allow for a comprehensive assessment of the impact of Operation Sindoor's diplomatic outreach and the way forward in addressing the issue of cross-border terrorism.
