Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the efforts of Indian parliamentarians who recently represented the nation on international platforms to advocate for India's stance on critical global issues. The Prime Minister met with members of various all-party delegations who traveled to 33 countries including the European Union, as part of "Operation Sindoor," an initiative to brief foreign governments and opinion leaders on India's commitment to peace and the need to eradicate terrorism.

In a statement released on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, Prime Minister Modi expressed his pride in the manner in which these Members of Parliament (MPs) presented India's voice on the global stage. He specifically highlighted their efforts to elaborate on India's commitment to peace and the necessity to eliminate terrorism. The Prime Minister acknowledged the dedication of the delegations in promoting India's perspective across various international forums.

The delegations, comprising over 50 individuals including current MPs, former parliamentarians, and diplomats, engaged with audiences, policymakers, and elected representatives in the 33 nations they visited. Their primary objective was to convey India's position on Pakistan's promotion of terrorism over decades and New Delhi's approach to address cross-border terrorism following Operation Sindoor. The initiative aimed to showcase a united front in India's fight against terrorism, with members from across the political spectrum participating.

Several prominent leaders from different political parties led these delegations, including Shashi Tharoor from the Congress, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Baijyant Panda from the BJP, Sanjay Jha from Janata Dal (United), Kanimozhi Karunanidhi from DMK, Supriya Sule from NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), and Shrikant Shinde from Shiv Sena. These leaders and their respective teams engaged in discussions and presentations to highlight India's perspective on global peace and counter-terrorism efforts.

Members of the delegations shared their experiences with the Prime Minister, conveying the positive reception and support they received from various nations for India's firm stance against terrorism and its dedication to global peace. Shiv Sena's Shrikant Shinde noted that the Prime Minister's words and vision have further motivated them to work towards enhancing India's stature on the world stage.

The diplomatic outreach followed "Operation Sindoor," during which India launched air strikes on terrorist hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in early May, responding to the Pahalgam attack in April. The delegations emphasized that their efforts led to overwhelming support from friendly nations for India's resolute fight against terrorism and its unwavering commitment to global peace.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary friendship groups in reinforcing India's message in a united and bipartisan manner. He suggested that the success of these delegations should lead to better utilization of existing inter-parliamentary forums to further India's interests and strengthen relationships with other countries. He also shared his own experiences with various countries, highlighting India's warm diplomatic relationship with nations like Saudi Arabia, which was evident during the delegations' visits.

The Prime Minister's appreciation of the MPs' efforts underscores the government's emphasis on proactive diplomacy and international engagement to address critical issues such as terrorism and to promote India's vision for global peace and security.
