The brother of Sonam Raghuvanshi, Govind, has publicly apologized to the family of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was allegedly murdered by Sonam during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Govind has also disowned his sister, stating he is "100% sure that she has committed this murder" based on the evidence. He asserted that all the accused in the case are connected to Raj Kushwaha, and that his family has severed all ties with Sonam.

Govind visited Raja Raghuvanshi's family to offer his heartfelt apology. He assured them that he stands firmly with them and will support all efforts to ensure his sister is held accountable. Govind stated that Sonam is guilty and must be punished for the crime she has committed. He also mentioned that he only knew Raj Kushwaha, who was an employee in their family business, and had no connection with the other three accused. He stated that Raj was only a staff member, and he had no idea about his exact role in the incident. Govind also said that he met Sonam for just two minutes after her arrest and was not able to speak to her in detail, and that she did not confess anything to him.

Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam, residents of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, went missing during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja's body was later found in a gorge near Cherrapunji in Meghalaya. Sonam was later found near a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur main road.

Govind's strong stance against his sister has added a new dimension to the case. He is demanding the harshest punishment for her, stating that the family will accept a death sentence if she is found guilty.

Sachin Raghuvanshi, Raja’s brother, also apologized to the Meghalaya government, stating that the image of Meghalaya had been tarnished due to the murder case. He thanked the Meghalaya government and police for their support and for solving the case quickly.

Meanwhile, the mother of accused Raj Kushwaha maintains her son's innocence, stating that he is young and has been taking care of his sisters since their father passed away. She pleads for her son's safety, stating that he is being framed and that she is unaware of any relationship between Sonam and Raj. Raj Kushwaha's sister also supports her brother, saying that he should get justice.

Vipin Raghuvanshi, another brother of Raja, claimed that Govind told him that Sonam orchestrated the entire incident and demanded the strictest punishment for her, even the death penalty. Vipin also alleged that Sonam's mother was aware of the conspiracy. He stated that Sonam had threatened her mother, saying, "If you ever get me married, just wait and see what I'll do,” when she refused her desire to marry Raj.

According to a senior crime branch officer, the accused had planned the murder even before Raja and Sonam's marriage. They held meetings to discuss the plan and were fully prepared, carrying a machete in case their initial plan to push Raja into a gorge failed. The officer stated that the murder was linked to Sonam's desire to marry Raj.
