Marking the completion of 11 years of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw delivered a presentation highlighting the significant strides made under Prime Minister Modi's leadership. Vaishnaw emphasized that "humongous tasks" have been fulfilled, setting the nation on a path of long-term growth and transforming the lives of average Indian citizens.
The presentation, attended by key Union Ministers including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Nitin Gadkari, showcased 12 "big picture" achievements across various sectors. These achievements ranged from the welfare of the poor and marginalized to farmers' welfare, women's empowerment, ease of living for the middle class, infrastructure development, affordable healthcare, and a notable increase in India's per capita income.
Vaishnaw underscored a shift in the vision of governance under PM Modi, prioritizing the welfare of both the nation and its citizens. He noted that under PM Modi's leadership, India has regained momentum and is firmly on track to becoming the third-largest economy in the world. He contrasted this with the period between 2004 and 2014 when India remained at the 11th position.
Infrastructure development has been a key focus, with significant capital expenditure driving progress in physical, digital, and social infrastructure. Over the past 11 years, nearly 59,000 km of highways have been constructed, and over 37,500 km of railway tracks laid. The inauguration of the Chenab and Anji bridges symbolizes a modern India, bringing connectivity to Kashmir. India's digital public infrastructure (DPI), including UPI, Aadhaar, and DigiLocker, has become a global benchmark, democratizing technology. Over 141 crore Aadhaar registrations and 60 crore UPI transactions daily demonstrate their reach and acceptance.
The government's guiding philosophy of 'antyodaya' – uplifting people at the bottom of the pyramid – has been central to its approach. This vision is based on four pillars: building infrastructure that connects, inclusive growth, manufacturing that creates jobs, and simplifying systems that empower.
Support for farmers has also been significantly scaled up, with the agriculture budget in 2025–26 rising to five times its 2013–14 levels. Nearly 25 crore soil health cards have been distributed, and under the PM Kisan scheme, Rs 3.7 lakh crore has been disbursed directly to farmers.
The Modi government has also brought a “new momentum” for women’s empowerment since 2014 by taking various measures, while 'PM Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan' and 'Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojna' improved institutional healthcare and saved mothers' lives. The BJP said the number of women self-help groups (SHGs) rose from 2.25 crore in 2014 to 10.05 crore in 2024 due to various measures taken by the Modi government.
India has also made strides in metro rail expansion too, with a more than four-fold increase in the quantum of operational metro lines to 1,013 km in May 2025 from just 248 km back in 2014. The nation now ranks third globally in terms of total metro rail network, according to an official statement.
Furthermore, India's robust, tech-driven, and inclusive growth is reshaping the global economic landscape. The PLI scheme generated Rs 14 lakh crore in output and 11.5 lakh jobs. India has significantly improved its ease of doing business, rising 79 ranks between 2014 and 2019.
PM Modi has emphasized leveraging technology for the benefit of citizens, enhancing service delivery, transparency, and empowering the poor. Digital connectivity has reached new milestones, with over 94 crore broadband connections and 120 crore telephone subscribers. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) has ensured transparency, crediting beneficiaries and saving by eliminating leakages.
In conclusion, Ashwini Vaishnaw's statements and the BJP's presentation underscore the Modi government's commitment to long-term growth, inclusive development, and improved living standards for all citizens. The achievements across various sectors reflect a transformative journey towards a self-reliant and globally competitive India.
