Next week, from June 16th to June 22nd, 2025, banks in India will observe a holiday on Sunday, June 22nd, as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar. This is a regularly scheduled weekly closure, with banks nationwide remaining closed every Sunday.
While physical branches will be closed, digital banking services will remain operational. Customers can continue to use online banking, mobile apps, ATMs, and other digital channels for transactions. Services such as transferring funds, paying bills, and submitting service requests will be available.
Banks will be open on Saturday, June 21st, which is the third Saturday of the month. The RBI mandates that banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, but are open on the first and third Saturdays. Customers can visit branches for in-person banking on June 21st.
Looking back at June 2025, there have been a few state-specific holidays in addition to the regular weekend closures. On June 7th, Bakrid (Id-Uz-Zuha) was observed across India, resulting in a nationwide bank holiday. On June 11th, Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti / Saga Dawa led to bank closures in Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh. Looking ahead, June 27th (Ratha Yatra / Kang (Rathajatra)) will be a bank holiday in Odisha and Manipur, and June 30th (Remna Ni) will be a bank holiday in Mizoram.
Customers are advised to plan their bank-related work accordingly, keeping the holiday schedule in mind. Although the majority of services are accessible online, some tasks may require a visit to a physical branch. Checking with local branches for any specific holiday observances is also recommended to ensure a smooth banking experience.
