Tragedy struck in Uttar Pradesh as two sisters lost their lives after being hit by a train. Despite the train driver's efforts to alert them by repeatedly blowing the horn, the sisters did not move away from the tracks. The incident resulted in their bodies being torn into pieces.

On September 21, 2024, in Gendajood village, Bijnor, Anchal, 19, and Kajal, 20, were killed by a goods train. According to police reports, the sisters were walking home from a forest where they had been collecting wood around 5:54 pm. They were crossing the railway tracks at Mewan Nawada Railway Halt after a freight train had passed on the up-line. Tragically, they were struck by the Link Express, which was approaching on the down-line.

Arif Kamal, the station master, informed the Government Railway Police (GRP) and local police about the incident. Authorities arrived at the scene and completed the necessary procedures. At the family's request, the bodies were handed over without a post-mortem examination. Dharam Singh Marchhal, the additional superintendent of police, stated that legal proceedings were underway.

The sisters were helping their father, a laborer, to earn a living, as their mother had passed away some years ago due to illness.

In a similar incident on November 18, 2024, in Bareilly, an 18-year-old BSc student named Gaurav Kumar was killed after being hit by a train. The incident occurred near Bjouria station. According to the train pilot, Gaurav was sitting on the track, and despite repeated horn blasts, he did not attempt to move. Police are investigating the case as a possible suicide, though the family has not commented.

Another tragic incident occurred in Ghazipur on July 22, 2024, where two teenagers, Sameer, 15, and Zakir Ahmed, 16, were killed by a train while listening to music with earphones on the railway tracks. Because they were wearing earphones, they couldn't hear the train's horn.
